Feline Behaviorist
"If you can't help me, my cat will have to be put to sleep!"

Kate Gamble, of Auburn, Calif., has listened to this frantic appeal many times during 23 years of dispensing behavioral advice by phone to desperate cat owners. She first heard it while answering the behavior hotline at the San Francisco SPCA, a job that fine-tuned her ability to provide solutions to behavior problems ranging from litterbox avoidance to aggression.
