A Living Miracle

From a wheelchair, Jane DeMartino cares for cats in need.

Sometimes, miracles arise from tragedy. It just takes the right person to make it happen. Jane DeMartino survived a plane crash in 1972 that rendered her paraplegic. Despite her limitations, she has dedicated her life to saving homeless cats and kittens.

“I survived a plane crash, and you would think that’s a traumatic thing,” she says. “But when I see what happens to these poor kitties, it’s much more traumatic.
