Few animal shelters have the time, money, space or resources to care for and treat sick, injured or handicapped animals that arrive at their facilities. That is not the case for California’s Nine Lives Foundation.
Veterinarian Monica Thompson, founded the Feline Well-Care Clinic on November 5, 2003, in the San Francisco Bay Area. At the time, it was as a veterinary hospital and a location that occasionally rescued cats. However, when Thompson realized that she could save cats that otherwise would be euthanized, she decided that she wanted to make cat rescue a full-time job.
