Cats and Compassion

Research shows that cat owners are more empathetic toward people.

By Brad Kollus

“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” — Ghandi

That might not be just a profound moral statement; it might also have a scientific basis. Researchers are discovering that cat and dog owners are not just compassionate toward their pets and other animals, but that pet ownership helps to make them more compassionate to their fellow humans.

I believe this. I have Ghandi's quote on my bulletin board. It is good to see it again on line. Thank you.

I think that this is totally the truth. I have noticed that kind people are often people who own animals. They are mild but give off that welcoming and exciting vibe. Animal lovers are probably my favorite people to be around--especially cat lovers!

I never really thought about connecting that cat owners are more empathetic then those without cats. But now that I think about it, it seems to fit! I love my kitty and pretty much ever cat I see or meet.
