Your cat sits on a favorite window ledge, staring out into your backyard with a look of intense concentration. If it were a human, you’d say it was thinking about something really profound — the meaning of life or how to bring about world peace. But your cat’s just a cat. They don’t really think about things ... or do they?
“Cats certainly can think,” says John Wright, a certified applied animal behaviorist and psychology professor at Mercer University in Macon, Ga. Not only that, he says, “most cats are extremely capable problem solvers. Cats know how to size up a situation and then act on the information received.”
