A big, fluffy feline might be wonderful to have in your lap on a cold winter’s day, but if your cat weighs too much, that’s not good.
Veterinarians have seen a noticeable increase in feline obesity over the past 10 years, and it’s up to educated pet owners to put a stop to this dangerous condition.
“About 40 percent of all cats and dogs presented to veterinary practices are either overweight or obese,” says John Bauer, a veterinary nutritionist at Texas A&M University, in College Station, Texas.
