Cat Traveling

From Cargo to Cabin

How the airlines were won.

By Jeanne Marie Irwin

There was a day when any cat traveling by air was checked with the luggage into the cargo hold at the bottom of the plane. Nowadays, you’re free to walk right into the airplane with Kitty in tow, provided you’re equipped with a carrier designed to fit under the seat. Thanks largely to the work of Gayle Martz, president and founder of Sherpa’s Pet Trading Co.

I moved to Tampa, Florida and had my kitty in a soft cat carrier. She was very good and did not meow at all. I put her right under my seat for three hours and she slept. I unzipped the top a few times to pet her and comfort her. Everyone who noticed her told her she was beautiful! One thing that is bad is the $80.00 pet fee, but she is worth it! Do not forget that most airports also require the carrier to be checked. I had to take mine in a small room for them to do that.
