“Why don’t we call the shelter?” you suggest.
“Great idea,” your mom says. "I’ll call them first thing in the morning."
That night you can’t sleep. You wonder where Fritz could be. Is he hiding under a bush? Is he stuck in a tree? Is he cold, is he scared? Is he happy? He’s never been away from home before. You fall into a restless sleep, worrying about Fritz.
When your mom wakes you up for school in the morning, you can see she doesn’t have good news.
“I’m sorry, but the shelter says it doesn’t have any cats that match Fritz’s description,” she says.
