No-kill shelters strive to save homeless animals' lives.

For decades, homeless cats have spent their final days peering out from inside their cages at community animal shelters. Many became victims of the long-accepted practice of euthanasia - if the pet couldn't be placed in a permanent home, it was put to sleep.

But thanks to the no-kill movement, a policy increasingly implemented by animal shelters across the United States, millions of cats' lives are spared because of the efforts of shelter staff who operate under the belief that every homeless cat deserves a loving home.
