Who doesn’t love to hear a wonderful success story? Project Bay Cat is one such
shining example.
Project Bay Cat is a collaborative effort among the Homeless Cat Network, the City of Foster City and Sequoia Audubon Society to humanely reduce the feral cat population along Foster City’s Bay Trail near San Francisco, Calif. Since its conception in 2005, 95 percent of the more than 170 cats in the area have been spayed or neutered and vaccinated. In addition, more than 67 cats and kittens have found homes through the program’s foster and adoption efforts.
“The results speak for themselves about the success of this wonderfully collaborative project," says Kevin Miller, Foster City’s Parks and Recreation Director. “Most impressively, we’ve achieved success without expense to taxpayers since the program has been implemented by volunteers, and by veterinarians who have donated their services to this humane endeavor. Project Bay Cat is a wonderful improvement effort for the community and by the community,” Miller says.
