A Peaceful Refuge

By Maryann Mott

You won’t see cats cowering in cages at the Washington Animal Rescue League. The nonprofit organization’s antiquated shelter in downtown Washington, D.C., recently underwent a $4 million renovation, with every detail designed from the animals’ point of view to promote healing and well-being.
