Bombay breeder Melinda "Mimi" McCarthy always loved cats. When initially looking for a breed, in fact, she researched for one that reminded her of the sweet-natured kitties of her childhood. She selected the Bombay.
Her husband, on the other hand, had not been raised with cats and didn't quite fancy himself a cat person, though he certainly tolerated his wife's passion. That was then.
"After our second or third litter, he was the person calling the cats, picking them up, saying, 'Come on guys!' One night, he looked at me and said, 'You know, Mimi, people who say they don't like cats have never owned a Bombay,'" says the Mississippi-based breeder.
