Photo credit: Shutterstock imagesThe Humane Society Silicon Valley (HSSV) recently received a Cat Writers’ Association (CWA) Muse Medallion for its documentary, “Cats Without a Home.” The 30-minute film follows six individuals’ activities as they care for and reduce the euthanasia of homeless cats in Santa Clara County. Viewers get a glimpse into the secret world of feral cats and see how shelter workers and communities handle homeless cat colonies.

The CWA presented Muse Medallion awards and Certificates of Excellence to winners in 35 writing and other media categories, including articles, columns, short stories, poetry, books, photography and video and audio tapes. The awards were presented at CWA’s annual conference Nov. 17-19 in San Mateo, Calif., in conjunction with the Cat Fanciers’ Association International Cat Show.

The video sounds good, but kind of sad-and interesting. I don't like to see stray kitties without a home. I am so glad someone is rescuing them. I hope they all find purrfect homes!

YES!!! Thank you to CatChannel and all involved for yet another article about homeless/feral cat issues and what can be done to humanely and positively resolve this complex issue to the satisfaction of all concerned. Kudos to the CWA for their part in getting the message out -- feral and homeless cats COUNT. They are important, they are loved, they are valuable, and they deserve our respect and protection!

I think this is a great way to spread awarness and gain acceptance and help for feral cat colonies. As a individual who helped to eliminate two such colonies I know that this humane treatment of feral cats can come to great results. This documentary goes a long way towards eduacting others to understand feral cats and what can be done to help!!!
