The Los Angeles Fire Department and Best Friends Animal Society have teamed up to create a 16-month animal charity calendar themed “rescue L.A.”
The animal charity calendar features firefighters posing with shelter animals that need homes, firefighters with their personal pets that they rescued or with search-and-rescue dogs.
The charity calendar also includes information about animal welfare and shelter adoption, seasonal fire and life safety tips that focus on disaster preparedness.
Proceeds from calendar sales directly benefit Los Angeles animal shelters, which face an overpopulation crisis. Hundreds of thousands of animals go into shelters annually, but only about one-third are adopted, according to the animal society.
