The Animal Rescue League of Iowa will help pet owners "license their loved ones" January 6. |
Pet owners living in Des Moines, Iowa, must register their cats and dogs by March 31, 2007, or pay a $50 delinquent fee. To help pet owners meet the city’s licensing requirements, the Animal Rescue League of Iowa will host a free event, License Your Loved Ones, on Jan. 6, 2007. Pet owners can license their cats and dogs at the clinic.
The shelter reminds pet owners to bring the animal’s proof of rabies vaccine and proof of spay or neuter surgery to the event. The cost to license a spayed or neutered cat or dog is $15; the cost is $35 for an unaltered animal. Senior citizens pay $5 to license each pet.
In conjunction with the licensing event, the Animal Rescue League will host a microchip clinic. The identification microchips will be available for $30; the cost includes the insertion procedure.
