Hercules gained worldwide attention in January when he wedged himself in a doggie door in Gresham, Ore., while scavenging for food. The overweight cat became the focus of media attention for his large size and unusual plight. Luckily, Hercules was reunited with his owner, Geoff Earnest, through the efforts of Jadwiga Drozdek, the owner of the doggie door, and the Oregon Humane Society.
Now, Hercules might capitalize on all that media attention. KTVB-TV in Idaho reports that the big cat will be featured in an upcoming issue of Martha Stewart Living magazine. The article featuring Hercules will discuss ways pet owners can help their cats and dogs lose weight.
Hercules is currently on a diet, too, according to his owner, Geoff Earnest. The rotund cat has lost about a pound so far.
