Beirut for the Ethical Treatment of Animals worked with Best Friends Animal Society to transport nearly 300 cats and dogs from war-torn Lebanon to Kanab, Utah, in October 2006. The animal welfare organization immediately began a national campaign to find these animals new loving homes. Animal lovers opened their homes and their hearts, adopting nearly 250 of the Beirut animal refugees.
Now Best Friends Animal Society is stepping up the campaign to find homes for the remaining 55 animals. The organization will regularly update a new website with information about the cats and dogs still looking for new owners. Look for bios about Haifa and Minette, a feline mother and daughter; Lily, a female calico with a gap-toothed smile; and Berry, a shy cat who wants a lot of love.
Stay tuned during the next few weeks as Best Friends gives you a peek at these sweet animals.
