Mambo the purple cat and Munk the pig help save fairy tale land from Frieda, the evil stepmother, in “Happily N’Ever After.” |
“Happily N’Ever After,” the latest animated film from the producers of “Shrek,” opens in theaters this weekend. The film follows Cinderella’s evil stepmother, Frieda (voiced by Sigourney Weaver), as she takes over the land where fairy tales are played over and over again. Frieda overthrows the Wizard (George Carlin) and appoints herself Empress. She changes the endings to popular fairy tales, allowing ogres, witches and trolls to come out on top.
The Wizard’s assistants — a purple cat named Mambo (Andy Dick) and a pig named Munk (Wallace Shawn) — enlist the help of Cinderella (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and a serving boy named Rick (Freddie Prinze Jr.) to seize control back from Frieda. The seven dwarves join in the battle against the witches, and Mambo and Munk get into plenty of adventures along the way.
“Happily N’Ever After” is rated PG for some mild action and rude humor. The film is produced by BAF Berlin Animation Film, Greenlight Media and Vanguard Films, and it is distributed by Lionsgate. For more information on the movie, visit the film’s website.
