The Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA) Disaster Relief program recently donated $15,000 to the Daytona, Fla.-based H.E.L.P. Animals Inc. The funds will be used to purchase 300 SurgiVet animal oxygen masks, used by fire departments to assist pets affected by fires or
other disasters.

The SurgiVet animal oxygen masks come in sets of three, with each set containing three different sizes of mask. The masks are designed to fit over the muzzles of a variety of animals, featuring rubber rings that help the mask fit snugly. The masks attach to oxygen bottles and can also be attached to flexible air bags.

Pam DelaBar, CFA president, presented a three-mask set to the El Cerrito Fire Department and Kensington Fire District in California. During the presentation, DelaBar assisted El Cerrito City Manager Scott Hanin and Fire Department Battalion Chief Lance Maples in a demonstration of the masks’ use.

For more information about the H.E.L.P. Animals Inc., program to distribute the animal oxygen masks, visit the group’s website. To read a success story involving the use of the animal oxygen masks, visit the Phoenix, Ariz., KTVK News website.
