As part of its “Mission: Orange” campaign to reduce the euthanasia of adoptable animals, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, along with the Humane Society University, will sponsor a seminar on trap-neuter-release (TNR) programs for feral cats. The seminar will take place in Tampa, Fla., at the Atrium on the Bay Shore Jan. 18-19.
The two-day workshop is structured to educate feral cat rescue workers, veterinarians, municipal officials, public health department officials and wildlife advocates on how to implement a TNR program for feral cats. Seminar topics include:
- Building a community TNR program
- Organizing a grassroots TNR movement
- Persuading municipal officials to adopt TNR
The seminar is open to the public. To register, visit the Humane Society University website, or contact Frances Gaeta at 301-548-7731. Registration costs $20 for both days or $15 for one day. Admission includes lunch and copies of TNR materials, as well as a gift bag and a free spay/neuter certificate courtesy of the Humane Society of Tampa Bay.
