The Winn Feline Foundation Board of Directors recently agreed unanimously to present Amy Shojai with the 2007 Winn Feline Foundation Media Appreciation Award in recognition of Shojai’s support of the foundation’s initiatives. Board members cited Shojai’s “unflagging support of Winn’s efforts to communicate and inform the public about feline health issues and Winn initiatives” in their decision.
“Winn is pleased to be able to honor Amy Shojai, a true friend and advocate for cats,” said Susan Little, Winn president. “Amy’s efforts to improve feline health have benefited many cats and cat owners.”
Describing Shojai’s work as an author, columnist and media personality, Winn board members pointed to Shojai’s recent articles about feline infectious peritonitis (FIP). The pieces have helped promote Winn’s Bria Fund, which raises money for scientists and researchers looking for treatments and a cure for the disease.
Shojai is the founder and former president of the Cat Writers' Association and the author of 22 pet-related books. Her weekly column, “P’ETiquette,” appears in the Herald Democrat (Sherman, Texas).
