All pets diagnosed with cancer in the United States are now eligible for a free online cancer consultation, courtesy of Pets Best Insurance.
The free consultation will be provided to the cat’s veterinarian online by a board-certified veterinary oncologist from the Internet oncology specialist firm, Oncura Partners Direct. The visit will be underwritten by Pets Best Insurance. Pet owners do not need to have a policy with the insurance company, although the request must come through the pet’s veterinarian.
“All too often, cancer treatments for pets do not happen because of the hassle of taking your pet elsewhere, sometimes requiring driving long distances for specialized treatments that may be needed weekly or even more often,” said Alice Villalobos, a veterinarian who specializes in cancer treatment. “Now, with this process, many cancer treatments can be successfully implemented, monitored and adapted by a person’s own veterinarian with the benefit of a cancer specialist assisting in every step.”
Early diagnosis and treatment is essential when fighting cancer. Pets Best reports that cancer claims the lives of one out of two cats and dogs ages 10 and older.
Veterinarians can visit the Pet Cancer Foundation website to request the consultation.
