| Several hundred kittens and cats were removed from Tiger Ranch Cat Sanctuary in March. |
Animal cruelty charges against Linda Bruno, owner of Tiger Ranch Cat Sanctuary near Frazer Township, Pa., were dismissed Thursday in proceedings in Gisbonia, Pa. Judge Suzanne Blaschak ruled that Bruno’s attorney was not provided enough information to mount a defense against 14 charges of animal cruelty, The Associated Press reports.
Bruno was charged with the counts of animal cruelty last month after the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals raided the 29-acre Tiger Ranch property and removed several hundred cats. Shelter employees said they found dead and dying cats on the property. Bruno has said that she took in cats other shelters would not, and that the cats received proper care.
Bruno’s attorney told reporters from KDKA Channel 2 News (Pennsylvania) that he suggested Bruno not take in any pets at this time.
The district attorney's office said it would refile the charges and include more specific information, according to The Associated Press.
