| “The Aristocats: Special Edition” DVD will be available Feb. 5. |
On Feb. 5, cat lovers and Disney enthusiasts can purchase a special-edition version of The “Aristocats,” the classic animated tale about a mother cat and her kittens. The two-disc version, released by Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, will contain bonus material, such as a behind-the-scenes look at the musical numbers and a new virtual kitten game.
“The Aristocats,” set in Paris, follows the adventures of Duchess and her three kittens, Toulouse, Berlioz and Marie. The family of cats is abandoned in the country after a jealous butler learns they are the benefactors of their owner’s will. Duchess relies on help from Thomas O’Malley the alley cat to return to her home.
Directed by Wolfgang Reitherman, the animated film features the voices of Eva Gabor as Duchess, Phil Harris as Thomas O’Malley and Sterling Halloway as Roquefort the Mouse. Popular songs from the film include “Ev’rybody Wants to be a Cat” and “Thomas O’Malley Cat.” “The Aristocats” is the last film that Walt Disney put into production himself.
“The Aristocats: Special Edition” will be available on February 5. Suggested retail price for the two-disc DVD package is $29.99. The film is rated G.
