The volunteers and staff at Feline Rescue in St. Paul, Minn., often refer to their feline charges as diamonds in the rough or unpolished gems. As the nonprofit, no-kill shelter and foster network enters its 11th year of operation, it will celebrate these hidden treasures at the 10th Anniversary “Pearls Optional” Gala on Feb. 16, from 7 to 10 p.m., at the Radisson in Roseville, Minn.
“Feline Rescue has come a long way in the past 10 years,” said Jocelyn LaBerge, Feline Rescue president. “This is because of our volunteers, donors and members — but more importantly, because of the felines that we’ve been able to help … This event will be a tribute to these felines and also a celebration of our success as an organization.”
The event will feature live entertainment, a silent auction and the announcement of the winners of the Hidden Treasures Photo Contest. Feline Rescue invited cat owners to submit photos of their feline friends, along with essays describing why the cats were hidden treasures. The winners of the contest will be featured in a 2009 calendar.
Tickets for the “Pearls Optional” Gala are $55 per person, with all proceeds benefiting the cats of Feline Rescue. For more information about the event, visit Feline Rescue's website.
