Three firefighters from the Broward (Fla.) Sheriff Fire Rescue rescued a kitten trapped behind a wall earlier this week. The tool used to do so? A can of tuna, The Associated Press reports.
Homeowners in Lauderdale Lakes, Fla., could hear meows coming from inside their home, but they didn’t own a cat. When they determined that a cat was trapped somewhere inside a wall, they called local firefighters for help.
The rescue workers tried tearing through the wall and crawling toward the kitten, but they couldn’t reach the elusive animal. One firefighter opened a can of tuna, and another caught the kitten when it came out of the wall to eat.
Authorities believe the kitten wandered into the home over the weekend, then accessed the wall through an air duct. The homeowners say they will keep the kitten.
