Kelly Levy searched her house high and low for her 10-month-old kitten, Gracie Mae. The cat had seemed skittish, recovering from spay surgery while Levy’s husband, Seth, prepared to fly to Texas from the Levy’s Florida home. Kelly thought the kitten had hidden somewhere in the house during the preparations for Seth’s trip, the Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
It turns out that Gracie Mae had sought refuge in Seth’s suitcase, joining him on his trip to North Texas. To add to the confusion, another passenger mistakenly picked up Levy’s suitcase from the baggage claim. Soon after the stranger reached his hotel, Kelly Levy received a phone call from the shocked man.
“A man said, ‘Hi, you’re not going to believe this, but I am calling from Fort Worth, Texas, and I accidentally picked up your husband’s luggage. And when I opened the luggage, a cat jumped out,’” Levy told the Sun-Sentinel.
The stranger arranged to meet with Seth, and Gracie Mae safely flew home to Florida last weekend. The identity of the stranger who found the cat remains unknown.
Levy wants to thank the “wonderful good Samaritan who took care of my cat and even bought her a pet taxi for the flight home.”
