Second Chance for Love Campaign Aims to Save Cats’ Lives

Mira Sorvino helps cats by joining efforts to save one million pets’ lives.

Actress Mira Sorvino helps cats by being a spokesperson for Hill's Science Diet's Second Chance for Love campaign, which aims to save one million dogs' and cats' lives.
Hill’s Science Diet recently kicked off its 2007 Second Chance for Love campaign with the goal to save one million cats and dogs by December 2007. The pet food manufacturer hopes pet lovers will be inspired to adopt one of the millions of cats and dogs in the nation’s animal shelters.

Academy Award-winning actress Mira Sorvino announced the opening of the campaign last month.

“There are millions of cats and dogs at shelters across the country just waiting to be adopted,” Sorvino said. “All these pets deserve a second chance for love, and the goal of this initiative is to help find these smart, wonderful pets good homes. I’m thrilled to work with Hill’s on the Second Chance for Love initiative to raise awareness for pet adoptions because it is an issue truly close to my heart.”

As part of the campaign, Hill’s has launched the Second Chance for Love Tour, which will travel to select cities throughout the summer to raise awareness and lend support to local shelters. The tour, in conjunction with local animal shelters, will help sponsor adoption events and highlight adoption success stories. To learn more about the tour and find out where it will be, visit the Hill’s Science Diet/Second Chance website

Pet owners who already have adopted a cat from an animal shelter can enter Hill’s essay contest. Entrants can simply visit the Hill’s Science Diet website and share the story of how they adopted their pet. By entering, cat owners will be eligible to win one of two grand prizes or eight second prizes, consisting of donations to their favorite animal shelters and free supplies of Science Diet pet food. While supplies last, each entrant also will win a free T-shirt. The contest ends Sept. 30, 2007.

Sounds like an awesome contest ! - Maybe I should enter! - I think Misty counts as being "adopted from a shelter" - - I rescued her when she was surrendered at a shelter where I was helping with a Spay/Neuter Clinic - Kitty Colony Caretaker
