| Ginger the cat goes home with her new family: Alex, Andy and Charlotte Morgan |
On Saturday, Sept. 8, Nevada residents turned out to see more of the cats affected by the hoarding situation at FLOCK (For the Love of Cats in Kittens) in Pahrump, Nev. Since July, Best Friends Animal Society has cared for more than 400 cats, administering medical care and working to place the cats in new homes. Forty cats found new homes through last weekend’s adoption event, hosted by the PetSmart store in Summerlin, Nev.
One of those lucky cats is Ginger, a sweet tortoiseshell who captured the attention of the Morgan family. Alex and Andy Morgan have donated part of their allowance to Best Friends Animal Society for several years, and today their mother, Charlotte, agreed to let the girls bring home one of the Pahrump cats.
The girls chose Ginger “because she was the sweetest and the gentlest,” Alex said. “She’s so cute.”
Charlotte Morgan approved the girls’ choice. “She’s so sweet and gentle with the girls, and that’s the most important thing,” she explained.
Best Friends’ staff and volunteers considered the adoption event a rousing success. “It’s been amazing,” said Shelly Kotter. “I’ve been doing adoption events for over three years, and I’ve never seen so many people show up to help out.”
