| Carmel the cat found a new home at the Mega Cat Adoption event. |
Best Friends Animal Society and the Summerlin PetSmart teamed up last weekend to host the Mega Cat Adoption with the goal of finding homes for cats rescued from the F.L.O.C.K. facility in Pahrump, Nev., and other homeless cats from the Las Vegas area. The event, held Nov. 17-18, sought “fantastic families for fascinating felines.”
Many cat lovers attended the event. Danielle Aymar, Best Friends adoption manager, reported that 39 cats found new homes. Twenty-seven cats went home on Saturday, and 12 more found new homes on Sunday. “Fourteen cats were from the Pussycat Lounge, six cats from the Sanctuary, 11 cats from Pahrump and eight cats from Sadie’s Safe Haven,” she said.
One of the cats adopted from Pahrump was Carmel, a cream-colored tabby with gold eyes. Carmel spent the weekend sleeping on a new bed, Aymar said. “Thanks to everyone who helped to make this event another success for the kitties,” she added.
