Nominate a Cat-Friendly Kid for Kindness Contest

American Humane seeks nominations for “Be Kind to Animals Kind Kid Contest.”

Posted: April 5 2008 2 a.m. EDT

If you know a child or young person (ages 6–17) who is dedicated to being kind to cats and animal welfare in general, nominate him or her for the “Be Kind to Animals Kind Kid Contest.”

American Humane, the national organization dedicated to protecting both children and animals, will celebrate the Be Kind to Animals Week by giving the nation a chance to honor children or young adults who help animals by volunteering at a shelter, collecting blankets, toys or food for homeless animals, or perform other kind works for animals.

Nominations must be submitted online or postmarked by April 15, 2008. Winners will be announced during Be Kind to Animals Week, which takes place May 4–10. Grand Prize winners from each age group (6–12 and 13–17) will receive $2,000, and all winners and runners-up will be featured in American Humane press materials and on American Humane’s website.

“Be Kind to Animals Week provides an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments society has made with regard to the compassionate treatment of animals and to recognize the bond between people and animals,” said Marie Belew Wheatley, president and CEO of American Humane.
