Paws Inc., in conjunction with Wonderworld Studios, will bring Garfield direct to video in Garfield Gets Real, a computer-generated, fully animated movie. Garfield’s creator, Jim Davis, wrote the script and is making sure his characters stay true to his vision, lending his talents in storyboarding, character design and overall production.
In the movie, set to be released on DVD and VHS, viewers will follow Garfield through Cartoon World. Garfield is tired of life as a cartoon character and wonders how life would be in the “real world.” After escaping Cartoon World, Garfield begins to miss his friends, family and job. He also misses the perks of being a star in the entertainment business.
Things get serious when Garfield learns his comic-strip is in jeopardy of being cancelled. He has to make it back to Cartoon World before the next issue of the newspaper hits the presses, and someone is trying to prevent him from making it back.
Garfield Gets Real will be a full-length movie distributed by 20th Century Fox. For more information on Garfield Gets Real and other Garfield news, visit www.garfield.com.
