Pet Cancer Awareness

November Is Pet Cancer Awareness Month

Sales from special pet collars, magnetic paws, go toward animal cancer foundations.

As part of Pet Cancer Awareness Month in November, limited-edition pet cancer awareness dog collars and magnetic paws are being made available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting the Animal Cancer Foundation and the National Canine Cancer Foundation, respectively.

The collars are tan-banded with a gold buckle and sprinkled with lavender “awareness” ribbons. The pink magnetic paws can be placed on any magnetic surface, including on cars and at home or work.

Sales of the items are part of a pet cancer awareness and education campaign by Veterinary Pet Insurance. According to VPI, cancer is the number one killer of both cats and dogs in the United States.

The collars and magnets can both be purchased at www.petinsurance.com.

“It's necessary for pet owners to take their furry family members to their veterinarian for annual checkups and to regularly examine their pet for warning signs. Lumps and bumps; sores that don't heal; weight loss; loss of appetite; and exercise intolerance are possible signs of the onset of cancer,” said VPI director of veterinary relations Carol McConnell, DVM.

Pet owners can find more information on the early warning signs of cancer in pets and how pet insurance can help protect against rising veterinary costs by visiting www.petinsurance.com/cancer.
