Sexless in Seattle

2nd Annual “Sexless in Seattle”

Low-cost cat neuter surgeries offered at the event tomorrow, Oct. 7.

King County Animal Services in King County, Wash., and the Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project are conducting their second annual “Sexless in Seattle” event Saturday, Oct. 7.

“Sexless in Seattle” is a day-long marathon of low-cost neuter surgeries. The Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project will perform 100 surgeries in the medical facility at the King County Animal Services Shelter in Kent. The surgeries will begin at 8 a.m. and cost $10 for each male cat.

During the “Sexless in Seattle event,” cat owners can buy rabies and feline distemper/respiratory vaccines for $5 each, plus receive a free microchip for their pet with every new King County license purchased.

The nonprofit Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project works to reduce the number of feral and unwanted cats in the Puget Sound region by providing free spay and neuter services for feral cats and low-cost spay and neuter surgeries for pet cats that need access to surgery.

A total of 85,565 cats and kittens entered shelters as owner surrenders or strays last year, according to a 2005 survey by the Federation of Washington State Animal Care Control Agencies.

For more information about the event, call the Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project at (206) 528-8125 or visit its website.
