Ontario SPCA Aims to Set Adoption Record

The Canada shelter hopes to find homes for 100 cats in June.

In honor of Adopt-a-Shelter-Cat Month, the Orangeville and District Branch of the Ontario SPCA has set the goal of finding homes for 100 cats in the month of June. If the shelter meets that goal, they’ll set a new record, the Orangeville Citizen reports.

Currently 114 cats live at the shelter, ready to go to new homes. “And as we enter the summer months, we’ll be seeing more and more cats coming into the Adoption Center, all in desperate need of care and love,” said Carol Hulcoop, SPCA branch manager. “Since June is Adopt-a-Cat month, we’d like to find a record number of forever homes for the Center’s cats.”

One of the cats waiting for a new home is Jethro, who has lived at the Adoption Center for over a year. A domestic shorthair, Jethro is the Center’s longest resident. Hulcoop invites the public to come meet Jethro and his friends at the shelter, located at 650 Riddell Road. An adoption fee of $125 includes spay or neuter surgery, microchip identification, initial vaccinations (except rabies) and topical parasite control.
