Because of his significant contributions toward increasing public awareness of animal welfare issues, Steve Dale received the 2007 Media Award from the American Humane Association at AHA’s annual conference last month. “We are proud to recognize Steve on his outstanding commitment to pets and their families,” said Marie Belew Wheatley, president of AHA. “His expertise is invaluable to American Humane and communities across the nation, so the 2007 Media Award is a perfect way to recognize his contributions.”
Dale reaches a large audience of pet lovers through his media efforts as author of a twice-weekly syndicated newspaper column for Tribune Media Services, contributing editor at USA Weekend and special correspondent for CAT FANCY magazine. Dale is also a certified dog and cat behavior consultant and a national radio host. He has appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show, National Geographic Explorer, the Fox News Channel and several Animal Planet shows.
Dale’s work in animal welfare has earned him recognition from numerous animal welfare organizations. He serves on the Winn Feline Foundation’s board of directors, and has served on the AHA board since June 2007.
