Do you have a favorite photo of your cat sharing a precious moment with your child? Have you snapped a shot of your cat and dog showing affection toward each other? Enter the photo in the American Humane Association’s (AHA) Pets and Pals Photo Contest. The contest, which runs from June 1 to July 31, 2007, will award $2,000 each to two grand prize winners. Four additional prizes of $500 will be awarded to a winner in each category. Winners will be announced in August 2007.
AHA’s Pets and Pals Photo Contest celebrates the bonds between pets and the people who love them. Pet lovers can enter photos in four categories:
- Best Pals
This category honors the friendships pets form with humans and other animals, and it is open to photos of pets with their best friends, either human or animal.
- Families and Pets
This new category is open to photos of pets with family members. Gather the family together for a portrait, and include your cat.
- Down on the Farm
This category is open to photos of animals found on the farm.
- Shelter Life
Shelter staff, including volunteers, veterinarians and animal-control specialists, help cats and dogs that are down on their luck. This category is open to photos of shelter and rescue professionals interacting with shelter animals.
To enter the contest, first download an entry form and photo release at AHA’s website. Fill out the forms and mail them, along with your photo, to the American Humane Association, Pets and Pals Photo Contest, 63 Inverness Drive East, Englewood, CO 80112-5117. Be sure your photo is at least 3x5 inches in size but no larger than 8x10 inches. Make sure to label the back of the photo with your name, address, name of your pet and any people in the photo, and the category you are entering. You may enter as many photos as you wish, but each photo must be accompanied by a separate entry and release form.
