Rescued Cats

Homes Sought for Rescued Cats

Sixty cats were found in boxes in the Atlanta area.

Fulton County Animal Services in Atlanta is looking for homes for dozens of cats that were rescued from two boxes found behind an apartment building last week.

A total of 60 cats, including more than a dozen kittens, were discovered living inside two wooden boxes May 19. Remarkably, despite being confined for an indefinite amount of time without food and water, all but one of the cats was still alive.

Fulton County Animal Services Executive Director Susan Feingold said that it’s believed that the rescued cats hadn’t gone without food and water for very long and that the cats are all “very affectionate and used to people.”

The cats were rescued when the boxes they were in were discovered in the woods, and officers with Fulton County Animal Services responded to the location. They then traced the cats to residents of a nearby apartment complex, a woman and her daughter.

They told investigators they kept the cats behind their building because the animals were not allowed to stay in the apartment. Both have been charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty.

Anyone in the Fulton County area interested in adopting one of the rescued cats or kittens can call Fulton County Animal Services at (404) 794-0358 or visit the Fulton County Animal Services’ website for more information.

These women should be placed in a box and see how long they can survive.

This is straight up ABUSE. Put them both in jail.
Maybe give them some long term time to see what its like to be confined in a small area. Scum!!

How did they come to have 60? And why did they start neglecting them?

I think it was sad that those people were so selfious to keep a box of kittens in the back in boxes all because they could not keep them in the apartment. If the apartment complex did not allow animals, have the deceny to take them to the animal shelter where they could be adopted to good homes. Shame on the mother and daughter. I personally think they should have been charged with more than just a misdemeanor.
