Animal keepers at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo have been busy lately helping some of the zoo’s animals create works of art. Animal lovers will have a chance on Aug. 30, 2007, to purchase one of about 70 animal masterpieces through the second annual Animals Creating Art Silent Auction, held in the zoo’s auditorium and exhibit hall from 6-8 p.m.
Some of the art to be offered includes pieces created by Dara the Persian leopard, Huck the sea lion, the bears of Northern Trek and the zoo’s black rhinos, including one created by the baby rhino, Zuri. All artwork will be signed by the zoo’s animal keepers. Last year’s event raised more than $7,000 for the zoo.
Admission to the auction is free to those who RSVP by Aug. 23. After that date, admission is $10 per person. To attend, please call animal keeper Heather Strawn at (216) 661-6500, ext. 4452.
