We survived Hurricane Isaac!!! But not before our house & neighborhood took a beating. Wednesday night was the most terrifying night Mommy has ever spent, listening to those catastrophic winds and heavy nonstop rain. The winds blew shingles off our roof which made it leak in our living room & in my bathroom. The winds also blew some siding off the eaves of our house. You can see pictures on the bottom of our pages. I was a brave boy and stuck close to Nana. Not much bothers MerryBelle except not being able to use the great outdoors in the rain for her "litterbox". Sissy hid under the bed the whole time.
We received over 7 inches of rain and more rain is expected here later today, tonight & through the weekend. We actually received worse weather from Isaac than we did with Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Our neighborhood & yard look like a war zone, with so many trees, limbs, pine cones & debris in everyone’s yards and in the street. One neighbor also has damage to his roof and another lost a fence. Thankfully no flooding and everyone is ok. That is what is important. “Things” can be repaired or replaced.
The workers have patched the leaky spots in our roof so when it rains again, hopefully our house will not flood. The insurance adjusters said it might be several weeks before they come to our house, so it will probably be a long time but we get a new roof & siding over the garage & living room.
Our power was out from 6:00 pm Wednesday until 9:00 pm Thursday. Then our power went out again this morning at 9:30 am. Entergy says a T-Line (whatever that is) is down and they are working at the substation to repair power to everyone here in Franklin County. They say we should be without power for at least 6 more hours. We have lost everything in our fridge and freezer, but again those things can be replaced. Hopefully we can start the massive clean up tomorrow, which will be a huge job. Yep, Labor Day it will be!
Thank you all for your prayers & concern for us. We have a long way yet to go before our lives can return to “normal”. Hopefully our power, internet & phone will be back on by tonight. God bless the power company crews & everyone affected by this horrible storm.
Casper Todd & Mommy Angela
