Don't worry about missing part of my catpaigne. You're here now, that's what counts. If you want to read my earlier blogs, they are on my furrend Mr.Kittys page #217260 * I'm sorry to be so very late today ! * Thank you for you daily visits and your comments. I'm glad you are enjoying my daily blogs. I like yours too. Yesterday was another late start for me and I missed making a lot of adding personal notes to the individual notes I like to write. Unfortunately, that will happen today. Mom has an unexpected, unavoidable trip to St.Thomas today. Thank you all again for your support and kind comments. Have a wonderful Wednesday. * * *

Today I thought we would take a look at one of the kind of silly, kind of romantic traditions humans have done for many, many years.
The name for Mistletoe comes from the fact that mistletoe tends to spring from bird droppings that have fallen on trees. with seeds that have passed through the digestive tract of the birds. At the time the plant was given this name. the people didn't know anything about that, but had observed that mistletoe seemed to spring into existence from bird droppings on trees. thus "mistle" or "missel", which ment basically "dung" and"toe", which came from the Anglo-Saxon "tan" meaning "twig". hence, mistletoe is another way to say "poop twig". Not only is mistletoe a poop twig, but but most varieties are partial parasites, being unable to sustain themselves on their own photosynthesis, so they leach what they need from the particular tree they are growing on, So essentially, the mistletoe tradition is a tradition of kissing under a parasidic poop twig.
Please remember that while having fun nuzzling with loved ones UNDER the mistletoe DO NOT play with it or eat it. You could make yourself very sick and not be able to enjoy the rest of the Holidays.
* * * "Those who make compassion an essential part of their lives find the joy of life. Kindness deepens the spirit and produces rewards that cannot be completely explained in words. It is an experience more powerful than words. To become acquainted with kindness one must be prepared to learn new things and feel new feelings. Kindness is more than a philosophy of the mind. It is a philosophy of the spirit.
