Luke was the first editor to regularly include her photograph in the Editors Note and shared her personal life and cats in the magazine. Each staff that worked on the publication brought another dimension to its personality. Ellyce Rothrock, editor from September 2001 through June 2002, added cutting-edge veterinary breakthroughs and a loving voice as expressed in a story on New Yorkers that were reunited with their cats after the September 11 attacks. Bridget Johnson, editor from January through December 2003, gave the magazine a bigger worldview by bringing in current events and featuring first lady Laura Bush on the January 2003 cover. As editor of CAT FANCY today, I feel fortunate to walk on the trail blazed by my predecessors. The requests for interviews from other media, including A&E Biographys television special on Catwoman, show how far this magazine has come in establishing its expertise and love for cats. Under Kenny Boyers art direction, we've updated the magazines look with favorable reader responses. And the one thing I saw repeatedly in looking at 40 years worth of magazines, is how each editorial staff values reader input and how much we appreciate your interaction with this publication. We are thankful to be working with you for the benefit of cats.
