As trick-or-treaters line up at your door and revelers parade up and down the street this Halloween, keeping your cat safe and calm should be a priority. Consider the following tips from the Humane Society of the United States:

Keep your cat indoors and secluded in a quiet, comfortable room with its food, litter box, favorite toy and bed.

Make sure your cat is wearing identification tags in case someone lets it out of its room. A cat frightened by trick-or-treaters may run out the front door.

Be aware that streamers and candles are hazardous to cats. Provide pet treats so your cat can enjoy the post trick-or-treat fun. Chocolate and other "human" treats can pose dangers to your pet's health.
