Meet the Expert
Sylvia Ottaka serves as Shelter Director of North Shore Animal League America, the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization. A 13-year employee of the Animal League, her responsibilities include ensuring the efficient operation of shelter staffing, animal intake and support areas. She also works collaboratively with the Foster Care Program, Adoption Counseling, and the Training Department.  A lifelong lover of cats, Sylvia possesses a wealth of hands-on feline experience from her shelter work. She is devoted to her own four cats — Mr. Finkles, Tasha, Budster and Ethan —  all rescues, and is actively involved in nurturing and protecting feral felines.

Sylvia will answer one question each week regarding adoption, rescue and fostering.
