Pam Johnson-Bennett, CABC, host of the Cat Channel Think Like a Cat message board, is a nationally acclaimed Certified Animal Behavior Consultant and the popular author of several books on cat behavior, including Think Like a Cat, Twisted Whiskers and Hiss and Tell. Her latest book, Cat vs. Cat, addresses the unique challenges of maintaining a peaceful multicat home and assists owners in understanding how cats communicate with both humans and other cats. Her books have received awards from the Cat Writers Association and CAT FANCY magazine.
Pam is on the Board of Directors of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants and also heads up the Cat Division of the IAABC.
Pams books describe her innovative methods for helping cat owners look at their pets behavior from the cats perspective. This cats eye-view style of cat care and training helps owners understand the motivation behind their cats behavior, and has helped put Pam at the top of her profession. She runs a private veterinarian-referral behavior service and previously appeared as a popular guest on national television and syndicated radio programs. She also speaks frequently at veterinary conferences and humane organizations around the country.
In her role as a behavior consultant, Pam lends her experience and expertise to the Friskies For More Cat Habitat Shelter program. Before ground broke on the programs prototype habitat at the North Shore Animal League America, Pam collaborated on the environments design and construction to ensure it met the physical and behavioral needs of shelter cats. The cageless surroundings inspire shelter cats to play, socialize and feel more at home while waiting for adoption.
Pam continues to stay active on behalf of cats, acting as the spokesperson for Friskies and touring with the Friskies Cat Team to educate owners on feline enrichment and how to maintain a stimulating environment for cats. In 2003 she served as a member of the Friskies Dream Team. Together with teammates Frank Bielec (Trading Spaces) and Lou Manfredini (The Today Show), Pam helped design the Ultimate Cat Habitat, unveiled at the Atlanta Home Show.
Some of Pams other accomplishments include spokesperson and instructional aide for the launch of Feliway, a behavior modification. When not on the road educating owners about cat behavior, Pam lives in Nashville with her husband the two cats.
