The temperature was high 52 & low was 39 this morning, now it's 47 feels like 48 with humidity 71% & wind is 6 MPH W. Monday's suppose to be Showers & High 53.

♥ SASSEE 10605 has been doing a bit better the last couple days. Her front legs elbows still has swelling and she does continue to have pain. Mom gives her pain medicine still about once a day. The good news is that since mom washed all our toys the other day, Sassee has played with one of the catnip stuffed toys for a few minutes rubbing all over it.

♥ WHYSKRS 10378 is doing great!!!! He goes back to see Dr. Liz this coming Friday to get his stitches removed.

♥ BAHNEETAH 10641 has been sneezing for a few days. Mom thinks she has a cold which started with Jazpyr 10428 a few weeks ago. She seems to have gotten it the worst. Mom's keeping watch over her.

♥ TC is doing well and continues to take his heart♥ medicine every morning.

♥ SYLVESTER 11567 is still doing well and no more health issues.

happy easter to one and all
from our house to yours! janet's gotten more than her share of things done between getting home from work yesterday and before 1:30 today. here it goes, cooked most of the afternoon, including today's dessert for the big holiday meal she did ahead of time, then raked the edges of the front lawn getting off loose branches, grass, rocks dirt and other stuff. then today she got up and out the door bright and early was 5 minutes late to sunrise service in back of the church, saw the magnificent sunrise halfway home and then was out the door walking pepper. after that struggling and finally getting the grill going for easter breakfast. once she had email/fb done she was out in the kitchen doing the big holiday meal which was simple just warming things up and after that getting her clothes off of the outside and lines down cellar which she put away. finally helped nat to get the eggs down off the tree (see new picture with janet) before the rain moves in later this after-noon as she's got a killer headache, but is ignoring it and getting along on here blogging. see ya bright and early tomorrow. sandy, ana,haley,angels

more prayers as some were answered gratfully and others won't be till it's confirmed with the results of those upcoming tests you're to have! janet's hurting some in her hips and lower back this morning from exercises she's supposed to do, but forgot last night and only remembered well after she had gone to bed! well she was out before any as usual here this morning walking double blocks in the windy conditions and only lower to mid 30s here today, but still if it's above freezing somemore melting will take place and we're down to 41/2" out there, only to make room for more likely saturday night into sunday which means janet and nat will be out early on shoveling so master can get out of the driveway to take janet into work and then pick her up later. sandy, ana, haley, angels

i jumped up and ran to the cage bars where i rubbed my face against the fingers i saw there and purred soo prettily. how could she resist me?

why it's you of course who's getting our very first vote of the day today! janet looked at the temp after getting up and pouring her cereal for later on into the bowl and looked at the temp and said, "wow, it's actually warmer than we've been the past 5 mornings as yesterday it was a lonely +1 out there!" she's happy about that as it was clear when she covered up her car and cloudy when she got up to change her night things due to night sweats. she woke up and was saturated so had to change her clothes and made a pit stop. have a great day, just thought we'd make you laugh a little. sandy, ana, haley, angels

~Happy Caturday Meows from the NICE Crew~
Sorry we've been MIA for most of this week but mom has had a cold & hasn't let me on to blog. Since she was lax in her duty now I'll be playing catch up again so get ready for me to whiz past at light speed on my rounds today...MOL!
It's a cold & very blustery day in northern IN. Fluffers & I are watching birds trying to fly & had to chuckle when one flew into the living room window. It was stunned for a second but recovered fast & headed toward the outside kitties' food dish. Mom isn't happy that they steal that food but knows they're hungry & food is scarce for them this time of year. You might be asking why the outside kitties aren't chasing them...MOL! The answer to that is because they already ate their breakfast & are now snuggling together in the cattery so they don't have to be out in the wind.
I've got good mews about Zaboo! Remember he has IBD & can't eat just anything so this is actually great mews!! Mom has changed how she feeds him every day by adding tuna to his diet at lunchtime. He loves it & gobbles it up! By the looks of him it may help him gain some of his lost weight back too! The Blue food was helping some but mom said the extra protein from the tuna will also help since he doesn't eat that much dry food anymore. I sure don't hear any complaints from him...MOL! The rest of us nibbled on it the first couple of days but now we're not interested. In fact...I try to bury it because I'm not a big fan of tuna...MOL!
Patches has been doing some playtime activities with me & Fluffers this week. I really think she's playing referee or else she thinks she's the law. Hmmm...Sheriff Patches has a nice ring to it...MOL! Well I'm here to tell you Sheriff that this cyclone & whirlwind will not be intimidated by your paws of justice! We will play from dawn's early light until we get so tired that we can't keep our eyes open any longer. We'll nap for a while & then we'll go at it again...MOL! Well I'd better get my tail in gear so I can catch up with everyone while I've got a captive audience (I'm parked on mom's computer desk & keep staring at her...MOL). Have a catastic Caturday everyone!

♥ BAHNEETAH 10641 got barfy early this morning and hacked up a furball. She feels better now even though she's sleeping a bit more today. She did get to go outside in the front yard for a few minutes!!!!

Callie 239447 has been wanting to get on the couch mom sits on and some of us kitties sleeps on, too, so Callie finally got up on it (mom telling her to be a good girl) as WHYSKRS 10378 & I was already asleep and BAHNEETAH was taking her a bath in the comfy bed on the couch.

♥ Guess what mom did???? You got it!!!! She turned the ceiling fan light on for better lighting and took a picture of us all together as you can see it in my picture gallery at the bottom of my page.

Mommy didn't do much today other than go and get her haircut, washed sheets and changed the bed. Unfortunately she shut the bedroom door right IN MY FACE!! So I didn't get a chance to help her make the bed. She said she can get it done a lot quicker without me. What? How can that be. Oh and mom said to tell you that Tucker seems to hide a lot during the day, in closets, behind curtains, inside armoires. He seems to only come out at nite to get something to eat and climb up next to mom when she goes to bed. Ill tell you, its a good thing for Bella and I to take care of mom. TIMMY

Do you like to go outside when it is raining, snowing, cold, etc.? I think your Mom is just trying to protect you from the elements...teehee I can't believe your Mom took you outside when it was freezing because of your constant meowing. You have her wrapped around your paw.

How sweet of you to let your Mom pet you more than usual and lying next to her on the couch. Oh my, you actually got on your Mom's lap. What's up? Your Mom must have been in 7th heaven!

I'm so sorry to hear that TaumKat's tumor under his tongue is getting worse. I know your Mom will watch him closely and do the right thing when the time comes.

We are keeping Carly in our thoughts and prayers. I'm sorry to hear that she is not eating enough each day.

Shhh...be very quiet...I'm hunting the wascally white whirlwind & she can be very elusive. She's somewhere close because I can hear her rustling so I must be very careful or become the pounced upon instead of the other way around. Look...there she is under the couch! We'll slowly work that way so as not to alert her to the danger she's in. Closer...closer still...almost there...EEK...she just darted out & whacked me across the ears as she ran off! (Alarm sounds) Calling all whirlwind chasers...please be on the lookout for a white, fast moving kitty with gold spots & tail. She's clawed & dangerous so approach with caution. Repeat...approach with caution! Report her whereabouts immediately to special agent Trixie (that's me...MOL)of the feline pounce patrol so that she can be brought to justice for impersonating ME as she scampers & romps around the house. There can be only one cyclone & I'm it...MOL! Well, until I hear where she disappeared to I'll take a catnip break & meow some family mews.

Mom got her Jeep estimated for damage yesterday...after having a short panic moment when she couldn't find her keys. The repair shop is booked up until the 28th so she'll be taking it back then so they can work on it. It's mechanically sound so they told her it was okay to drive it so mom reminded dad that he needed to clean up the sticky pop that splashed everywhere. Now back to the panic time mom had...MOL! She searched all of the places her keys normally are but couldn't find them. At a loss on what to do since she had to be at the shop in less then 45 minutes, she called dad. Dad to the rescue...MOL! He brought her his key & went back to work. When he got home they searched for a long time but still no keys. Total bummer for mom since her set is the one with the remote start, plus has her house key on it too. Finally a light bulb lit & mom remembered wearing another coat that had been put in plastic in the closet. Dad looked & sure enough...there were her missing keys! She was very relieved but felt silly because she didn't remember wearing that coat so now dad has more ammo to tease her with...MOL!
Oooo...I just saw movement out of the corner of my eye. Could it be...nope false alarm...it was only Zaboo. Well got to go pick up the trail of my elusive victim...err...suspect so will meow at you again soon.

Barney Here--- Wow! You would not believe how Zeus is bouncing around in Joy! He hurried down to have breakfast, only to find a pile of greetings, toys and treats and that Beautiful Shiney Badge on his CC page!! Party, Party!! He shouts--- invite all our friends! Thank you, thank you dear CC furrends for my COTD!! Mom is trying so hard to tell him, you have to eat a healthy breakfast first. Will he do it? Not today--- a kid in a candy shop has nothing on our Zeus! Thank you so much CC furrends, this is what Life is all about!

What more can we say? Just a few words on the importance of friendship and support. Mom got us on CC a bit over four years ago. At first, she wasn't sure what to expect, but very quickly we were welcomed to CC and began making furrends. After a year, we were still on, had gotten a couple COTD awards, without even asking to run, and had been asked to join MHL--mouse hockey. That was a natural for us, though mom protested a bit, saying she knew nothing about hockey.
Our dogs joined DC and, at that time, we even had a couple rescued rats on SAC. Mom remembers one day hearing Dr. Phil saying, "How can anyone get on the computer for hours and pretend to be their cat or dog? Well, we want to answer that for you Dr. Phil! It is the most natural and normal thing in the world! We join together in a community of love, caring and respect for all. We support each other through our ups and downs in life, through our common interests in a safe environment. There have been a few mistakes, we are never purrfect, but we are a strong community, because our hearts are pure and we care for one another.

There, I have got on my soapbox, though I want to know, why a soapbox? Why not a catfood box or crate of cans? This blog may be a bit shorter than usual, but it is Zeus's day to celebrate and celebrate we will! No live blogging, mom has to go help her cousin Janet, who is studying for her State Boards, which she is taking next week to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. You might remember that is her cousin that lost her dad from Alzheimer's a year ago, just before Thanksgiving. So come Party on our pages, share and enjoy all the treats and toys to be had! ♥ Well, mom still gets woke up during the wee hours every morning mostly by WHYSKRS 10378 and I have been in the action, too, with my meows. Of course, mom always gets up and gives us food then she lays back down to TRY to sleep more til more meows about an hour later. Tehehehe!!!! Some of you say mom should ignore us, but she can't as she's a very light sleeper and most all sounds will wake her!!!!

♥ CARLY [#11000 DC] didn't want to eat this morning, which she does most mornings anymore. About noon today, Carly got sick and threw up which was only liquid form. She did eat some of her Prescription Diet w/d dry food late this afternoon, but not much. She did eat most of her 1/2 can of Prescription Diet w/d this evening.

♥ I did get my morning lap time on mom then it was Whyskrs turn. Mom also has been cutting the fur mats off of Whyskrs when she can. She has to do sneaky cuts til he figures out what's happening then he starts in with his growling and hissing at mom.

♥ Mom finally changed my profile photo this afternoon to an updated 2013 picture!!!!

Hi Bahneetah and Knight Gang
So sorry to hear Carly isn't eating well and we are sending healing thoughts her way. P.S. hope this poem doesn't upset your mom since its about doggies and eating. Mom picked it out 2 days ago and it just dawned on her that since Carly is sick, it might be not be appropriate. Mom said to tell everyone thank you for the prayers, hugs, well wishes, flowers and anything else anyone has sent to help her prepare for her upcoming surgeries. She said I have the best friends a kitty could have :D.

I have never actually met a dog face to face but I have seen them at the park sometimes. Some of my friends have them as siblings and they tell the funniest stories about living with them. This poem is dedicated to my feline friends who have doggie family and I can just imagine this is what feeding time is like around their house MOL.

Another Pet - By The Cat

In comes my nice owner with a new pet,
He’s big and loud and is stinking a lot,

Dinner is quite an interesting scene,
When they feed him even the wildest greens,

It is very cold here today. Not at all warm. we never even made it out of the 20's and we had no sunshine either. Burrs!!

Well, mom went with her sister again yesterday to go back to their mom's and get more stuff out. They are taking all her personal belongings back to her sisters house and will sort through it over there, they just want to be out of the small apt.

Mom came home with this huge fuzzy blanket and threw it on the couch and {you guessed it} we took it over, it is so fuzzy and cozy, we just snuggled up in it and went to sleep...mom laughed at us and said it was for her, but we want it for us...MOL.

Is your mom/dad Hockey fans?? mine is and she can't wait to see her 1st game on the new BIG screen TV. The Wings start on Sat against St Louis..mom is happy to have hockey back.

Mom is slowly getting back to herself..she still wants to call her mom and then remembers she can't, but that will take time. Her sister does the same thing.

Well, i hope it is warmer by you then it is here. If not, stay warm!

You're too funny. See, you've discovered that mom will pay attention eventually as long as you keep meowing. I know how to work mom too. Lately, it hasn't been working out too well. I used to be able to chirp at her and lead her to my empty kibble bowl. She'd get the hint and refill. Not these days...mom is tough and it doesn't matter that my bellies are screaming. I believe that she's serious with this diet thing. We had 63F here today and rain. More rain tomorrow and Wednesday...dad just put a bunch of grass seed out after the back yard was graded...he's worried that everything may wash out. Oh well, we need the rain so I guess that we'll take what we can get. Happy Monday.

How are you today.It sure has been a gloomy day here,it has poured rain all day and suposed to rain through tomorrow night,so I have not got to go out at all,mom did carry me out on the steps and let me look around,then a big ole rain drop hit me right on my little ole head,ole rain,I wanted back in.So I have napped,ate treats and napped more,I have not wacked anyone all day,hehe,Gang has napped all day also.Mom has been nervous and down today dreading the surgery tomorrow and went to lay down,when she did I lay right beside her head and patted her cheek and gave her a kiss on on her nose,that made her smile.Mom said thanks so much for thinking of her and the surgery tomorrow,that helps so much. Yeah, the weather is like that down here, too! 34 degrees last night in SF! Just above freezing!
Neighbor Barbara decided to leave her downstairs storage room, which has a door that opens to her side yard, open slightly last night, so any community cats could come inside if they were too cold in their outdoor "Kabins" The room adjoins her garage, so that door can stay closed and locked, but the other opens to her yard. The yard is fenced all around.
She put down a few old, but clean blankets and pillows and some fresh water,just to see if there were any takers! MOL! Sure enough, this morning, when she was getting ready for work, and decided to open the door, three cats darted out the door into the yard!
She told our mom, this morning, that as long as the weather stays this cold at night she will give the kitties the option of sleeping in the storeroom, rather than outside. She still feeds them in the yard, though, so they won't get too used to being in her storeroom. It just doesn't usually get this cold out here for so many days.
You're, right, Bahneetah, Taumkat is a very lucky kitty to be able to live out his days in safety and peace with his furiends and family. So very many community cats don't have that simple option. Props to your mom for making that happen!

Well mom is feeling much better. Her sinuses are still bothering her but at least her head is clear. Dad is still taking his antibiotics for his teeth that have abcessed. He gets his second root canal on thursday.

Mom put Sky's blanket on him on friday night and he has to wear it until the night time temps are back in the low 40's He really appreciated mom putting it on him too.

I haven't been outside much as it's too cold for me. Mom washed Pearl's kitty coccoon bed and was she ever mad when mom took it from her! She was pretty happy when mom brought it out all clean and warm from the dryer though.

This morning the temperature is 28 with the humidity @ 92% & the wind is 5 MPH N. Today's suppose to be Mostly Cloudy & High 31.

This will be another short morning for visits since mom is running late due to inside kitties. They're ok!

Most of us outside kitties stayed in our beds yeadterday sine the temperature never got passed 29! Everything was frozen xcept our water as mom always dumps it out in the mornings and put in xtra warm water for us.

I am so sorry to hear TaumKat's tumor under his tongue is getting worse. I am bringing him some healing prayers and hope he is comfortable and not in pain. I am glad to hear Carly is still eating.

Mom went to Indianapolis this weekend to go to a bridal shower for her niece and to visit her oldest son. She had a wonderful time but got behind on my blogging.

1/14/13 A Monday Morning Wake Up! Barney waves!
Actually we are the ones needing to wake up, judging from the votes already on Zeus and my, Barney's pages! It's only 5 degrees here, but since we are indoor cats, except when we manage to escape, we have to go by the dogs report and they came back with frost on their whiskers!

Well, you might guess that today we will be talking more about Zeus, since its his day to run for COTD. His basic story has been told before. He came from a kill shelter in another state and someone in our group, who keeps an eye on the net, saw him. a couple other cats and a dog. Our group was able to take Zeus, another cat and the dog. Mom took Zeus and what an adventure that has been! He was 8-9 months when he first came to us. His big boy surgery and shots were done before he came to our home. Mom worked on his socialization with us, both cats and dogs and her. He goes to adoption events at PetCo and PetSmart every other Saturday. The main question people ask now is why hasn't he been adopted--- mom's question too. It is also the question of new fosters when they join a group, how long does it take? Previously we talked about Penny, who was adopted within two weeks. Zeus is still with us after six months.

First of all, mom's group screens new homes very carefully. The cats and dogs are posted on Petfinder.com for our group and area. Zeus goes to adoptions every other week, twice a month. He does not show well, because he is very scared. He by now thinks he should stay with us. Mom loves him like crazy and he knows that. He hisses and spits at potential families, though mom did try Feliway last week and it seemed to help. She also got him a high-edged round bed, which he can hide in. Yes, we want very much to keep him, but our home is full and if we keep him, it means no more cats can come in until one of us crosses the Bridge. Not going to happen for a long time! We hope. Other than all his mischief, Zeus is a sweet cat and even demands his share of lap time. He still attacks mom's ankles and feet, but when she says ouch and enough and, if necessary, stops him with a hand on his scruff, he does stop. She then walks away and ignores him for awhile. Being ignored is not something Zeus enjoys!

So there you have it. We are not giving up on Zeus. He is welcome to stay and we love him dearly, but at this point he is still going to adoptions and we are still hoping for a purrfect forever home. Mom's heart will break, but it will also heal, when we know its "One more stray out of harms way," the motto of our rescue.
