"7" ~Creating a Feline First-Aid Kit~
CAT FANCY Editor Susan Logan shows you how to assemble an emergency kit for your cat.
One way to keep your cat safe and healthy is to create a first-aid kit so you have supplies on hand if a minor health incident arises. Include the following items in a sturdy plastic container, and store it in an easily accessible area, preferably next to your cat carrier so you have everything handy in case you need to take your cat to the veterinarian:
1. Contact information
2. Veterinarian’s information
3. Directions/phone number for nearest emergency
** animal hospital
4. Cat’s vaccination records
5. Photograph of cat
6. Cotton balls or pads
7. Gauze pads, gauze bandage roll and adhesive tape
8. Hydrogen peroxide
9. Antibiotic ointment
10. Hydrocortisone ointment
11. Small scissors with blunt ends
12. Tweezers
13. Oral syringe
14. Sterile eyewash solution
15. Rubber gloves
16. Antiseptic wipes or cleaner
17. Cotton swabs
18. Cornstarch or styptic powder
19. Ice pack (keep in freezer until needed)
