(='.'=) Our Parents Are Back!! (='.'=)
... and we´re sure happy to have them with us.
Mom & Dad came back from their short trip to Rosario last night. They had fun and it was a nice break in the middle of the month. Rosario looks pretty much like Buenos Aires, although the river is closer and it´s a little bit smaller. Dad spent Thursday and Friday morning at the cardiology congress while Momma was walking around and visiting the shopping center. She was really glad to find a kitty-woman doll at a huge toys store named "Balloon City". And of course, she bought it. MOL!! Yes, I know, that´s our Mom. Isn´t she a big girl to be visiting toys stores? Anyway...
Mom and Dad left Rosario on Saturday morning and on their way back home they spent one night in San Nicolás de los Arroyos, a lovely small town which is 300km far from home. Our parents wanted to visit the church of Maria del Rosario de San Nicolás. Virgin Mary of San Nicolás is very miraculous and is visited by many, many people everyday coming from all over the country.
Mom prayed for our families and all our friends and also for the homeless animals over the world.
She brought Grandma & Great Grandma a box of alfajores (sweet cookies with dulce de leche) and fresh fruits and vegetables they bought in the farms close to San Nicolás.

Thank you for all your support. I really appreciate you hitting my votey button every day. It makes me so happy to see all you come by and meow to me.
I had told you of the two upcoming shows on the schedule so fair for the 2012-2013 season. Now the only shows scheduled for the 2013-2014 season are. Oct 5 Palm Springs and Dec 28-29 in Las Vegas Riviera Hotel. I know someday I’ll go to Las Vegas. I wonder if I’m old enough to gamble. Kitty needs more toys. MOL Shows are still being scheduled so that is why mom always tries to stay on top of it. OK sometimes she misses a show. Silly mommy.
In case you were wondering, the cage size is usually 36 inches wide, 24 inches deep and 27 inches high. One cat or two kittens are allowed per cage. Some shows have a “double cages” which are partitioned into two single cages. In this arrangement a single cage is 26 inches wide, 22 inches deep and 22 inches high. A double cage (extra charge) is 54 inches wide, 22 inches deep and 22 inches high. No more than one cat or two kittens may be benched in the same cage.
The cage covers must cover two sides and back. It is recommended that the top and bottom is covered as well.
The covering for the cage is to prevent your cat from seeing its neighbors. People who show regularly have spectacular curtains and decorations for their cages. I have a towel for my bottom of the cage but sometimes I just use an extra curtain to make my area extra fancy. MOL

Happy Tuesday everyone & thanks for stopping by the Imperial Cabin! Okay kitties…today we’re touring my home state a little bit & taking a trip to Michigan City, IN to see the OLD LIGHTHOUSE MUSEUM! At the bend of Trail Creek in the Michigan City harbor stands an historic old structure whose beacon served as a guiding light for Great Lakes sailors for more than 100 years. Michigan City's well-lighted port has a long and interesting history, bound to Lake Michigan with all its mysteries and beauties. Michigan City's first light was a simple "postlight"( lantern on a tall pole) located approximately 100 feet west of the present lighthouse. In 1837, Jeremy Hixon, Sr. and his son were contracted by the U.S. Government to build a permanent lighthouse in Michigan City. That structure consisted of a keeper's dwelling with a 40 foot high whitewashed tower topped with a lantern to house the light. As shipping in Michigan City increased, primarily grain and lumber, a brighter light was needed to guide ships into the busy port. In 1858, the U.S. Government constructed a lighthouse using Joliet stone for the foundation and Milwaukee or "Cream City" bricks for the superstructure. On November 20, 1871, the first beacon light was installed on the east pier. (http://www.oldlighthousemuseum.org)
The Old Lighthouse Museum opened officially on June 9, 1973 & has guided tours Tues-Sun from 1-4pm so that’s where we’re going today kitties! I’d originally planned to meow to you about another of our CC furiends while we’re traveling on the Cyclone Express bus today but I’ll do that on Thursday instead since this article about my home state caught my eye this morning.

~Dachshund Adopts Abandoned Kittens~
In a story originally shared by Fox 59 in Indianapolis, four kittens were born on the front porch of a local couple, right before an early spring blizzard brought more than nine inches of snow to the area. The couple found the kittens alone and brought them inside to care for them. Little did they know it would be their Dachshund, JOJO, who would do much of the caretaking! The dog immediately took over mothering duties, including producing milk to nurse the kittens. The couple told Fox 59 that JoJo “acts as if she birthed them herself.” The kittens, who are all boys, are named Poseidon, Hephaestus, Pan and Zephyr, also known as the “blizzard kittens.” They’ll be available for adoption when they’re old enough.

Now that’s another true awww moment! They have their own FB page but for those that don’t go there I’ve also posted pics in my gallery so you can also get that warm fuzzy feeling from seeing this pawtastic doggie with her ‘kitty pups’. This family gets the Calico award of excellence for cuteness!

Thanks very much for the micecream cake & balloons with catnip bubbles! Had a great time at your pawty! Sorry we missed yesterday. Mom had no computer access. She went to CT with her brother & sister-in-law for their Uncle's funeral so was at her brother's Friday & saturday nights. Drove up & back 8 hours, 400 miles in one day. Glad to have Mom home today. A household pet is defined as any cat not eligible to be entered in another class at the show. Yes, we have had purebreds in the household pet category they either had a disqualifying trait or no papers, etc. A registered purebred may be shown in one of three catagories: Kitten class (at least 4 months of age but under 8 months of age), Championship Class (8months of age or older and unaltered) and Premiership Class (8months of age or older and spayed/neutered)
Most cat shows are non-vetted and all entries must be free of disease, fungus and parasites and strongly recommended to be inoculated for protection against Feline Enteritis, Rhinotracheitis, Calici Viruses, and tested for FeLV.
I didn’t get any rosettes my first show. It is common for that but there are a few kitties that get rosettes their first show. I had just had my big girl surgery and was a little over 4 months old but hey my sisters never have been in any shows. Mom said she is very proud of me and I’m the best kitty in the show. She tells me that after every ring I go in. I am one lucky little kitty. Mom knows I was real nervous but I let every judge hold me and do whatever they did to me. Ok sometimes it wasn’t comfy. MOL
I hope some of you are getting excited and maybe a few might want to try a show. Everyone says always let you try up to 3 shows before calling it quits. My furriend Scooby Doo’s dad told someone to take her kitty into the bathroom and hold them on the sink like a judge would and tilt the head back to look in the eyes and teeth to help get use to that. He also puts on his swim suit and gets in the tub with all his kitties. They have 3 they show to help with baths and they get use to the water. Ok, I like to bath alone. MOL

Day 3
Thank you for supporting me and pushing my votey button. I appreciate you stopping by to visit me. Thank you for putting me in your taglines too.
My first show was only 45 minutes away. I went to the groomer and was very good for Miss Bobbi. She gave me a bath and did my nails two days before the show.
Mom had to go and get a couple yards of material for my curtains and she was a yard short. MOL I have a benching cage I stay in while waiting to be judge. I need my curtains up so we don’t see the other kitties. I have a litter box that I don’t use, mom has food and water for me that I don’t eat or drink and my kitty bed with some toys. I do lay in my kitty bed. Don’t worry, it is normal for some kitties not to use the litter box, eat or drink during the show. Only my furriends that have been going to shows for years and to most of the shows eat and use the litter box. I do love my benching cage. When mom gets it ready then takes me out I jump into my cage. It’s safe in there. I also have another cage, it’s called the judges cage. It’s up by the judge. Mom has to listen for them to call the household pets and my number. I then go and get in the cage with my number on top and wait for the judge to get me out. Mom was nervous how I would react to my first judge but I just let him hold me and look at me. Mom didn’t get a picture because she was watching to make sure I didn’t take off. MOL
I was real nervous. The Del Mar show is very loud and there are so many people there to watch us. Yes, most of the people watch the Household pets. We always have the largest crowds watching us. Each judge is different. Household Pets do not have standards like the pure breeds. We do have to be at least 4 months old, not declawed, in good health with no evidence of fleas, ear mites, etc. Cats 8 months of age or older must be spayed/neutered. Nails should be clipped on all four paws before leaving for the show. HHP’s are judged on condition (general good health), uniqueness, temperament, and grooming. Most people bathe their pet one to two days before the show. The judges loved the household pets because it’s judges choice on who wins. I have one judge that has given me a rosette twice. He always says he picks the cats he would like to take home. I guess I’m real special. MOL

Day 2
Thank you for supporting me and pawing me a votey. As you know, I show in the CFA and I’m in the Southwest region. The CFA Southwest Region(Region 5) was one of the first CFA Regions to score household pets for regional awards. The Northwest region(Region 2) and Japan (Region 8) have also been scoring household pets and presenting regional awards for many years. The regions that show household pets are Region 1 North Atlantic, Region 2 North West, Region 3 Gulf Shore, Region 5 Southwest, Region 6 Midwest, Region 7 Southern and Region 8 Japan. Region 7 is the most recent region to present regional awards for the 2007-2008 show season. You can get a lot of information that I give you on the CFA website. I am getting it from the Southwest Region’s website. The other regions are Region 4 Great Lakes, Region 9 Europe and International Division (Asia/Latin America)
My show year runs from May 1 through April 30. The Southwest Region encompasses Southern California (Bakersfield and points South), Arizona and Las Vegas, Nevada. Usually the top 10 household pets are presented awards except for the Del Mar, Ca Show in January. It’s the biggest show in the region We have at least 45 household pets and the top 15 get awards. All the other shows are smaller and you only have 20-25 kitties in the household pet category.
My first show was The Food & Water Bowl XIX Jan 22 & 23, 2011 Del Mar, CA 8 rings. I was up against 45 household pets. Mom didn’t know it was the biggest show in the region until we got there and someone told her. She still says she started me out in a shark tank. I don’t know what a shark is. I was very nervous.
Tomorrow my first show and how I felt.

I’m so excited to come by and wish you a very Happy Adoptiversary! It’s such a special day of memories for our pawrents, and for you too! Mom loves adopty days...she remembers that very exact moment that she knew I was the one! You have the most wonderful family, sweet kitty! A Powerful Rumble Fills the Air
A Powerful Rumble Fills the Air
Is it an Earthquake? Is it Thunder? No it’s the powerful rumbling sound of eight beautifully painted motorcycles, cruising down the street they’re all heading for The Roswell’s driveway and pulling in to share Adoptiversary Wishes with Roswell and his mom & dad.

The helmets come off to reveal Zoe Monique, Cyndee, Mallow, Q. Lola, Ammie, Dasher, Talley, and Thunderfoot, Kali and Elvis, all of the Hairballz Rainbow Riders.
On the back of the bikes are flags representing their two lost honorary members, Doodlebug and Yum Yum

they all dismount and in turn, they present Roswell with cards and brightly wrapped gifts. There are feather toys, catnip teasers, bouquets of Balloons, Vanilla catnip cake, with mice cream cups and boxes of Kitty safe Chocolates. There is also a bouquet of white roses for Roswell’s Mom and a set of Barbeque Tools for his dad. As an added surprise, there is a sub-space communicator that might be able to reach Roswell’s home planet.
Talley and Dasher unfurl a big banner with “Happy Adoptiversary Roswell” emblazoned on it. They all exchange hugs & purrs with Roswell & his mom & dad and then they get back on their bikes to head out to their next destination for the day.
