PLS VOTE GINGER SPICEGIRL #12433 COTD SAT 12/24!
We couldn’t think of a candidate more purrfect to honor on Christmas Day this year than our dear friend Ginger Spicegirl, known to most everyone as “Gin Gin”! Only the very newest of CC members have yet to meet sweet calico kitty. When a beloved kitty crosses the Rainbow Bridge, or is sick, or just needs a hug and a purr, Gin Gin is there to cheer and comfort. She does the same thing for her Mom and Dad, Mary and Vic, whenever they need a nurse or a bit of purr therapy! Most of you know the Florida Fab Four, a wonderful group of kitties who hail from the Florida panhandle. One of these special kitties, Dusty, was his Mom’s pride and joy. The best description of the special relationship between Dusty and his Mom comes directly from his profile page. Each gives his/her own perspective…

“From Dusty: Mom has been my best friend. She's kind, patient, and very loving. I'm so glad she's mine and we've shared all these years together. She has made my life the best! I was around a long time to give her love, sandpaper kisses and many purrs. From Mom: Dusty is a loyal faithful companion who has blessed my life with so much love. He's precious and has claimed my heart. I'm honored and blessed to be the Mom to this Gentle Giant. Life with Dusty has made the journey sweeter.”

Dusty lived for over 17 years with his furever family after joining them as a wee kitten. September 3, 2010 was one of the saddest days of his Mom’s life as she had to give her Angel back to God after Dusty’s weakened body could no longer go on. Now Dusty is carrying on his “Gentle Giant” status as an Angel at the Rainbow Bridge.

This weekend is a very special one as we celebrate Easter and the promise that although life on earth comes to an end, there is a special place where our loved ones go to wait for us to someday join them. That which is loved, lives on. And we cannot think of a shared love more fitting to be the Easter COTD than that between Angel Dusty and his Mom Linda.

We got the email and pics - REBEL IS ADORABLE. Momma wants to hug him and kiss his nose - I AM JEALOUS! We don't log on much anymore, as we are really enjoying all the extra time we have together, and Momma is catching up on all sorts of things around the house, but we do try to keep up with all the Mews every week. WHERE'S THE DOGGIE'S PICTURE?
What colors in his coat? What's his name? Send us a picture!!!!! We can't wait to see him. We "googled" the breed and they are absolutely adorable. We ended up with about 1-2 inches of snow, not bad. “THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS-GMG VERSION”
'Twas the night before Christmas at the GMG’s house
None of us were stirring, not even a mouse;
Our stockings were hung by the chimney with care
In hopes that Santa Cat would soon be there;
We kitties were nestled all snug in our beds,
While visions of “Greenies” danced in our heads;
With Mom fast asleep and Dad out like a light,
They had just settled down for the long winter’s night.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
We sprang from our beds to see what was the matter.
Away to the window we flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow
Gave the luster of mid-day to objects below.
What appeared next (we had to look twice)
‘Twas a miniature sleigh and eight tiny field mice,
With a little old driver, so frisky and fat,
We knew in a heartbeat it must be Santa Cat!
More rapid than eagles the flying mice came,
And he whistled and shouted and called them by name;
“Now Mickey! Now Minnie! Now Fievel and Pixie!
On Stuart, on Jerry, on Speedy and Dixie!
To the top of the porch to the top of the wall
Now dash away, dash away, dash away all!”
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky;
So up to the housetop, the mice coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of cat toys and Santa Cat too.
And then, in a twinkling, we heard on top of the house
The prancing and pawing of each little mouse.
As we drew in our heads and turned quickly around,
Down the chimney Santa Cat came with a bound.
He had the most beautiful fur, from his head to each foot,
And his red suit was tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of cat toys, he had flung over his back,
And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.
His eyes—how they twinkled! His whiskers how merry!
His cheeks were small furballs, his nose like a cherry!
His cute little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the “bib” under his chin was a white as the snow;
A sprig of catnip he held tight in his teeth,
And the aroma encircled his head like a wreath;
He had a friendly face and a little round belly
That shook when he purred like a bowl of catmint jelly.
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old kitty;
And we laughed when we saw him--we could tell he was witty.
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave us to know we had nothing to dread;
He meowed not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all our stockings; then turned with a jerk,
And laying his paw aside of his nose
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;
He spring to his sleigh, to his team gave a shout
And away they all flew before we could follow them out.
But I heard him meow as he drove out of sight

A CC Christmas Eve
‘Twas the night before Christmas, and all through CC
There was scurrying and hurrying, pawrents busy as can be.

While the kittehs were nestled, all snug in their beds,
Visions of catnip mice danced in their heads.

The stockings were hung on the cat condo with care
In hopes that Santa Paws would soon be there.

The pawrents were tired but looked lovingly at
Their beautiful furbaby, their companion, their cat.

They thanked Almighty God for this furry creature to love,
For they knew their kitteh was a gift from Heaven above.

The pawrents retire after a long, busy day
Of wrapping, decorating and hiding things away.

Now, thanks have been spoken by families for gifts received
The day has gone smoothly, and pawrents are relieved.

Christmas day is done, it is late on Christmas night,
Festivities are over, kittehs from catnip highs sleep tight

But not losing sight of the true meaning of the day
Of little Lord Jesus, asleep in the hay...

In the stillness all across CC, CatChannel pawrents, as if all were one

Happy November 29, 2010. It’s Monday and this month is almost over…Can you believe it? I’ve had a wonderful time visiting all of you each day and sharing our recipes and the fantastic recipes shared by many of the CC kitty families.

It’s another “Cookie Day”! Today’s cookie is a quick and easy, but a really good fudge cookie and we hope you will enjoy it!

FUDGE-PECAN CHEWIES

Yield: 5 dozen

Ingredients -
• 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
• 2 cups (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate morsels
• 1/4 cup butter or margarine
• 1 cup all-purpose flour
• 1/2 cup chopped pecans
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 60 pecan halves

Preparation -
* Combine first 3 ingredients in a heavy saucepan; cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until chocolate and butter melt. Remove from heat.
* Stir in flour, chopped pecans, and vanilla.
* Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
* Press a pecan half into the center of each cookie.
* Bake at 350° for 7 minutes. (Do not overbake.) * Transfer cookies to wire racks to cool.

Boo’s Tip: (1) Substitute walnuts for the pecans or any other nut that you prefer.
(2) Substitute chopped packaged coconut for the ½ cup chopped pecans and place a candied cherry-half on top instead of the pecan half.
(3) For a really different but delicious treat, substitute raisins for the nuts.

Guess what, Scribbles Marie?
Yesterday on my walk with Momma outside, I caught a grasshopper! Yes, a grasshopper. I held him down with my paw and smelled all over him. When I went to have a taste, he jumped up and flew away, and the chase was on.

I caught him again, but again he escaped - why is Momma laughing so hard? She got a short video of me chasing him. GRRRRR, and then it poured here last night and it is way too wet outside for me to look for him today. Maybe tomorrow...I am plotting. Y'all have a great day. Hugs, Felicity

No, the Green Mountain Gang has not been in hibernation, but it probably seems like it. We are sorry we haven’t been blogging much. Mom decided to join Facebook and her time there, along with a few other things, has taken time away from CC. Needless to say, we’re very disappointed, as we really miss meowing with our CC friends!

Mom recently did a photo session with us wearing our St. Patrick’s Day Green and posted our new photos on our profile pages. We’re looking for some caption ideas for Holly’s photo. Hope you can make a few suggestions and leave them on Holly’s page #59878. The winner of this caption contest will be announced on St. Patrick’s Day.

We continue to keep all our sick friends and their humans in our prayers. A number of you, including the Knight Gang and Nappy, do such a great job of keeping us all informed about those needing those prayers and we thank you for doing that.

Our congratulations go out to our new Queen of March, Misse #12393 and we urge everyone to vote daily for our March COTM candidate, Callie #89317 as well as each day’s COTD candidate!

We’re briefly interrupting black cat month to campaign for a special orange friend of ours. Ginger is one of those rare orange female cats. For those who don’t already know, only about 15% of all orange cats are female. Ginger found her furever family by following her Dad around the housing complex where he worked and meowing until he picked her up and took her home to her Mom. She was about 5 or 6 months old at the time. Now a playful three year old, she loves to be petted and her favorite hangout is the back of the sofa or the foot of the bed. Ginger lives with her older sister, CoCo, a kitten brother and sister named Snow and Baby, and 16 birdie brothers and sisters. She loves to play with the kittens, and often tries to stalk the smaller birds, but is usually greeted with a squirt of water when she tries to do that. We just saw pictures from Virginia Beach on the news - all covered in snow!! And spring break only weeks away - what did all of you think about the snow? Strange white stuff, isn't it?

We apologize for the c/p, but wanted to be able to touch base with as many of our friends as possible!

First of all, we hope the New Year will bring you an abundance of love, health, and catnip! We join everyone in praying for sweet little Boo Kitty #154855 in the hopes she will fully recover from her illness.

We have decided that we need more time to devote to our pages, blogging our friends, and hopefully, try to create new FAQ/Bloggers Central type of profile page. Therefore, we have resigned from the Catpaign Crew. This will also mean we are now free to do an occasional free day campaign, so if anyone has a suggestion for a free day candidate--someone who is deserving, but might not meet all the requirements for an official campaign, please feel free to suggest him or her to us!

Secondly, we are starting a new caption contest--the last one we'll be having for awhile. The photo we'd like a caption for this time is Holly's #59878 . As always, we are looking for your ideas, not your votes. The kitty whose caption is picked will receive as a prize a 2010 Petco Foundation Calendar featuring our very own Haylee as the April cover girl. Because we don't want to waste any time getting the prize awarded (the January cover is a D-0-G, so we hope to get the calendar to the winner prior to February 1st for the first kitty cover), we'll be picking the winner on January 22nd. Join the fun--we can't wait to see your ideas!

Hello, kittehs. I realize that many of you are saddened by all the illnesses and losses our CC furrends are going through, and I want you to know I do have a difficult time reporting it. Christmas is supposed to be a time of celebration, of joy, of happy family gatherings, a time of acknowledging the reason this time of year is so important.

But it is exactly because of these reasons I bring you updates, so that the families who are hurting can be comforted and know others care and share their pain, and so that we can try to make their Christmas a little brighter.

Yes, Bengals & Savannah are beautiful cats. However, they are not forever one. You must remember that they have very close to their wild cousins and can misbehave at times. Their are several Bengal rescue groups around. If you looking for one. Biscuit's 148389 Mom works with one.
Case in point this morning. Someone could have reported me as it could have look like I was abusing Kato. He said NO by grabbing my leg and scratching. I hit his nose with a "NO" We repeated this 2 more times. I dragged him back to the building. We were out in the open. I have done 2 Kimi trying to show this temperament. One show Kato greeting his Great-Great grandparents and the other shows Kato with leopard top and bottom. I am trying to come up with a title something like the Inner beast. suggestions would be appreciated.
The weather has been at night, mostly rain. I didn’t get out yesterday, Saturday my Dad took me out. Today is overcast and wet from all the moisture. I went for a different walk. First we walked toward that elevator and I told my Mom I didn’t wanted to go that way. She picked me up to carry me passed the elevator. We met my Dad and another woman at this time. I didn’t pay any attention to them. After we got pass the elevator, Mom put me down and there was a table and couch. I wanted to sniff them, but we went on. All kinds of doors to checked out. We stopped at the last one and Mom put something there. Another set of stairs to go down with new smells. On the next floor Mom headed that way and she stopped to talk with a women. By this time I was beginning to get scare as I noticed a crowd of people in the hallway. There were children who wanted to see me. Mom said not to pet me. I wanted down so Mom let me down and I headed the other way. Mom laugh and the people said good-bye. Now I knew what was there I stopped at doorways and found a number of cats and dogs behind the doors. We went down the new steps and there was a door to outside. I didn’t see my lot and there were a number of cars. Sniffing told me there were mice and a cat in the near the cars. I found the cats trail and headed in its direction to challenge it. Moms said no and drag me away. The next few cars I smelled mice. Finally Mom picked up again, I watched were we went. BOY, THIS IS A BIG PLACE. Next thing I knew we were at my field. I was enjoying myself when Mom said it is time to go inside. I said no and like sponge I snarled and hiss all the way. My Mom told me “NO” and my nose got whack a couple of times. I deserve it. On the grass I hesitated and Mom let me get away with it. After we got back I went up to her and head bonk her to thank her for taking me.

This morning the temperature is 48 with the humidity at 93% and the wind is 3 MPH. Today suppose to be Rain & 53.
Our HIGH on Saturday, 12/19 was 60 degrees!!! This is unusal!!!

Sylvester 11567 and I have been playing and chasing each other Saturday. We play on the kitty condo trees then we would wrestle on the ground. It was so much fun!!!

There was a lady looking at us last night through the back door window. We never seen her before. Mom told us later that was Sir Leo's 129433 Momma Janada. She got to see me, Sylvester and Patch 12767. I think she seen Aunt Samantha 15442, Suezee 11528 and Sweet Pea 13197, too. It was dark out so she never got to see the other outside kitties.

Mom picked me up last night from the ground and put me on the patio table to eat. I squirmed some and mom tried to feel my body and she discovered some bad things on my chest and my armpit area; BIG HAIR MATS!!! Now she has to figure out how to actually cut them off without getting scratched or bit!!! Lots of luck on that one Mom!!! MOL!!! MOL!!!

Fewer breezes this morning, temp is 22 and wind chill is 14, the high is expected to be 43. Now, unless the weathermen have been hitting the spiked eggnog, we could see a high of 60 this Sunday.

In fact, Hitler, Genghis Kahn, and Benito Mussolini all disliked common house cats. (Felicity side note: COMMON????)

Church Bulletin Humor...

22 members were present at the church meeting held at the home of Mrs. Jane Doe last evening. Mrs. Doe and Mrs. Deer sang a duet, The Lord Knows Why.

It’s so difficult to believe that Christmas is two weeks from tomorrow. Lots of preparations, cleaning, baking and decorating are going on throughout the country. Let’s all give our Moms a little extra purr therapy and help them relax a little, and take some time for themselves.
