How We Met
Wahine was brought to my door one night, draped over a man's hand [I thought she was dead] He said can you save her? he had found her on the highway against a cement barrier covered in ice and her eyes were froze shut. with the long hours of vet help, her stomach quit working due to starvation, her ears and tail froze off. she also has a bullet lodged in behind her skull. but she pulled through her ordeal, she remains a little afraid of men but otherwise is doing well.

That is okay my mom got your package all ready to go she hope soon she can mail it off to you. When a man come in a picture us kitty are out hee hee. next time when your mommy don't listen to you give her a little wack on the leg and meow real loud she get the picture hee hee. I made my mom and dad some fish sticks and crab salad I sure had a hard time getting them out of the ocean and home again and the water real cold I just about froze my paws. mom said that the fish and crab salad was so good she said i starting to be a good cook ya ya. Mom just relax on her birthday. Mommy got a phone call from one of her friend that she stay in touch for 50 years now and mommy talk to her on her birthday. Meow that a long time. While mommy talking to her I was watching my birds and the squirrel just love to steal the sunflowers from their feeder. I sure wanted to catch it so bad too. Tell the big cat to stay away from you guys it get my mommy real worried and me too. Please be careful Wahine. do you like the new way thing are going in your household? How are you doing? We cats are doing great. I can't say the same for the humans. One cold after another, we're currently on the second bout of the flu, and all kinds of infections in between. That's why I haven't stopped by in a little while. Too busy taking care of mama! What would she do without me?
I have a funny story to tell about mama. She had to call Home Depot to see if they had an element in stock that she needed to fix a hot water heater.
As usual, they put her on hold so while she waited she fed the dogs. A piece of food fell under Melian and Tuna decided to go for it.
Melian exploded with a roar and scared poor Tuna half to death. She didn't bite but that would have been the next step.
Mama has zero tolerance for dangerous behaviour so she chewed Melian out royally. "Shame on you! You're a BAD girl! Shame! Shame!"
Silence.
Uh oh! Where was the hold music? How long had she been off hold? :) The woman on the other end timidly cleared her throat.
Mama explained that the dogs were being bad. The woman said nothing. I think she was more scared to death than Tuna! :)
She VERY apologetically told mama they didn't have the element in stock and hung up as quickly as she could.
I'm still smiling about this!
We still have snow on the ground and it's not showing any signs of spring yet. We're all longing for warmer weather. How about you?

1/22/13 -10 Tuesday from Minnesota Barney!
Hello again friends--- BBBbbbbbrrrrr!!!! That is all I can say about it and I am not going out til Spring! Zeus did try it again yesterday when mom let the dogs out. Luckily she had her coat on and just went out to see how far he would go. Not even halfway across the patio! He turned, looked at mom to tell her she must have done something and he ran back to the door as quick as his legs would carry him! I sat back in my bed an chuckled--- some day you will know better kid.
Guess its finally time to start telling my own story. Barney looks thoughtful as he settles down beside mom to dictate his story. Some parts are on my page, of course, but I will try to pull it together a little more for you. I was born on a farm in Wisconsin, across the Minnesota border. There were a good number of young cats and somehow our farmer decided there were too many and was threatening to do us in! A neighbor called mom's group, among others, to ask for help with the situation. She said someone was going to shoot the cats! I was about 7-9 months old and one of those accused of contributing to the cat population explosion! I was friendly to humans and she wanted to find someone to take me out of there and get my Big Boy surgery. She thought I was part-Bengal and a beautiful spotted tabby. Well, you remember my current mom had dealt with a Bengal named Tyler/Toby before and so she stepped up and offered to be my foster. The rescue group was given permission to come on the farmer's property to trap and remove me and several other young cats for neutering and to go into the adoption program.
We were neutered, given necessary vaccinations, checked for parasites and tested for FeLeuk/FIV. All our tests came out negative and I was delivered to my current mom to go into the adoption program.
Guess I need to stop here, but you obviously know at some point she decided to keep me. I will give you a hint--- Zeus isn't the first cat to act badly at adoptions. It was also discovered that I had bad teeth and infected gums. No early dental care in my former situation to be had.

Human pawrents, please spay/Neuter all kitties you are able to help in that way, whether your pets or ferals. A bouquet of flowers brightens the day!!

Supplies:
4 White Carnations
2 Plastic Black Shank Buttons - if you can find an oval shape even better
1 Plastic Yellow Shank Button
1 Sheet of White Craft Foam
Black Card Stock
Fabric Glue
Straight Pins
Tape
Green Floral Tape
Floral Wire
Red Ribbon
Place button wires into the flowers to create the face (make sure they're secure). You might need to trim the wire a little so your buttons sit flat on top of the flowers. I also recommend looking at a Hello Kitty image to get the nose and eye spacing correct.
Tie a traditional red bow and trim off tales. Attach a floral wire to bow. Cut two rounded triangles from the white foam for ears. You'll want the ears to be slightly bigger opposed to proportionate. Glue one of the ears on the back of the bow. Tape the other ear to the floral wire. The wire should be 6" in length.
Situate ears at the top of the bouquet. You will need to bend the ears back about 90 degrees. The flowers should cover part of the foam ears (this is why we made them larger). With floral tape, wrap wire and stems to secure in place.
Last are the whiskers. Cut 6 thin strips of black card stock measuring 2" in length. Pin three strips to each side of the face inside the flowers using straight pins. You now have a Hello Kitty Bouquet. For more color surround it with other flowers or wrap it in cellophane and tissue paper.

Cat "arrested" for break-in Brazilian prison
There are paw-prints all over the scene of the "crime" for its part in an apparent jail break attempt. This feline's life of crime is now over.
The incident took place at New Year. A smuggling cat has been detained in the grounds of a jail in Brazil with contraband goods for prisoners strapped to its body with tape. They found a mobile phone, charger, headphones and tools. Officials said the items could be used to effect a means of escape or for communicating with criminals on the outside.
The white cat was apprehended crossing the main prison gate. The incident took place at a jail in Arapiraca city, 250km (155 miles) south-west of Recife in Alagoas state.
The cat had apparently been trained to assist in high-profile prison breaks, and had been seen coming in and out of the jail multiple times prior to its arrest.
The jail holds some 263 prisoners.
There are no leads in the case. All of the prisoners are suspects in the case, but it’ll be hard to get any forward-momentum in the investigation. A prison spokesperson stated: "It's tough to find out who's responsible for the action as the cat doesn't speak."

Good Morning Everyone--- Barney here---
Finally! Mom was so tired! Happy Mew Year everyone! Think we may set a new trend with our late start. It's 9:15 am and -5 in Minneapolis. Clear skies and sunny--- that's our Minnesota weather report. Now, a bit about me and my vision for the month. I am not as organized as some kitties, so my blogs, besides starting late, may ramble a bit, but I'm hoping to get us started with a month of inspiration for cold, snowy, wet days or sunny and warm, if that is what you are experiencing. We do know some CC kitties live in those areas of our world! Can we trade places for 6 months?
Just to let everyone know, mom has promised to create a page to archive my ramblings and for you to use as a reading room, besides coming to the CMR, which we will certainly post first. Please post reactions or suggestions on my page, Barney's. If you are a voter, I want to hear what you think!
Today we start a whole Mew Year 2013, what will it bring? Got to be better than the past, but you know, we kitties always live in the present. This week will be dedicated to giving you the story of me and my family, hopefully finding a few things you didn't know. Talking about Resolutions, yours and mine. Any other Mews of importance. A bit of my purrsonal philosophy and a potpourri of kitty inspiration for all, including human members of our families, without which, we would not have the lives we have.

Monopoly of life:a lucky break just when U need it
A rags to riches tale:
On December 31, 1935, the game Monopoly was patented by Charles Darrow, an unemployed engineer in Germantown, Pennsylvania. He struggled with odd jobs to support his family in the years following the great stock market crash of 1929.
This fascinating story of corporate intrigue begins with the 30-year old, The Landlord's Game. It had a lot of the familiar Monopoly features like a "Go to Jail" square and utilities and properties for purchase. With his free time, Darrow modified it, basing his rental properties on his favorite resort town, Atlantic City.
Parker Brothers, at first, turned down Charles Darrow, explaining that his game contained "fifty-two fundamental errors" including: the game took too long to play, the rules were too complicated and there was no clear goal for the winner.
Parker Brothers later offered Charles Darrow royalties, on each new version of Monopoly sets sold. This generous deal made him a millionaire.
In 1970, a few years after Darrow's death, Atlantic City erected a commemorative plaque in his honor. It stands on the Boardwalk, near the corner of Park Place.

Hi Friends!
A quick run around CC. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas, if you celebrate the Holiday and that Santa Paws treated you well. Mom was at her cousins, so we just had a quiet catnip pawty, including our guest Rebecca or Malika, as she is called by her new dad. Mom came home last night and took some pics to text to him to let him know that Malika was totally relaxed with us and wished him a Merry Christmas and safe trip home. It's a wonderful life
Philip Van Doren Stern (1900-1984) began a short story, The Greatest Gift", in 1939. He was inspired by a dream, and reminiscent of the 1843 Charles Dickens' Christmas Carol. Stern shared 200 printed copies in 1943 with friends as a year-end cards after numerous publisher rejections.
Luckily, the pamphlet came to the attention of a RKO movie producer who purchased the rights. Frank Capra's production company saw the movie potential. He paid $10,000 for the rights in 1945. Stern's story was adapted into the most loved and memorable American family film, "It's a Wonderful Life" in 1946. Director Capra's inventiveness, humor and affection for human beings keep it glowing with life and excitement.

♥ We wish to share this article from KVAL.com on the 2 kitties who were rescued from the Willamette River. Mom added a picture of them in my gallery!!!!
♥ SPRINGFIELD, OREGON ~ A Springfield woman who breeds cats was arrested Monday (12-03-2012) afternoon for allegedly throwing two cats into the Willamette River, Police said.
♥Witnesses said that two abandoned Persian cats were found inside of a trash bag that was snagged on a tree branch near Island Park.
♥Responding officers from SPD immediately set to work trying to rescue the cats from the Willamette. They managed to retrieve both felines, who officials said were scared but safe.
♥Further investigation lead police to Betty Ann Gould, a Springfield cat breeder who handles similar breeds of Persians. Police officials detained her Monday for attempted aggravated animal abuse.
Gould plead not guilty to attempted animal abuse on Wednesday.
♥Police said that Gould had several cats in her care at the time of the arrest. Brian Austin with the Springfield Animal Control said that they are now working to transfer those cats into their custody.
♥"We cannot take the cats until we have a court order to do so,” Austin said. “Until she is convicted of this crime we will not be able to do anything officially. We will hopefully try to talk her into surrendering the cats so we can get them to good homes."
♥Austin said the cats (who are sisters) are both healthy and are nearly inseparable.
♥Both of the Persians will be put up for adoption after a full investigation of the incident is completed.

When mommy brought in your package and said Taffee your package is here I meow and ran and jump on top of the box hee hee I was busy smelling you that I would not let mommy open it up and when she could I climb inside of it yes that my best friend mommy show me what you got me I love the toys and the book mommy put the pet saftety flusher on my stroller now I am all set to go for a walk. Mom and dad like their too. the village light your mommy got my mommy she already got up in the village she soon take pictures of it talking about picture mommy got camera happy again and took picture of me and my mouse you got me. My momma and I we are so glad that your momma got the package and we hope she will like it. I help my dad put up our christmas light and I help him by supervise it worse me out just watching my dad do the work. hee hee. I pick out the light too. We been having rain here for the last three days of rain and more rain on Tuesday and Wednesday and the wind and the rain blow so hard it knock down our fence a little. An hour and 25 minutes of funny, cute and interesting short feline videos consisting of four categories:
1. CATness: the essence of cat behavior, capture a cat (or multiple cats) just being a cat, moments of pure cat wonder, quirkiness, and delight;

Wow look at this just love our spot on the cat tree and I don't want to go home hee hee. look like Thomas and Ammie did a great job on the desk they can come to my house anytime and do our porch love all the bright lights and colors. must take a picture of it so i can show mommy how it look it going to knock her off her seat hee hee. Gee the kittens are so much fun to play with the ball went everywhere. Of course I knew the turkey pie was your favorite I make it just for you my sweet elf. That is so sweet of Paris new mom to let her stay with you until after Christmas now that a Christmas gift to you by having Paris little longer I am sure she is happy about it. It been cold down in the 50 or 40 during the night. Tell your mommy that my mommy send the two package off to you on Wednesday please meow let us know when you get it. give hero and great kitty kiss and a paw hug from me. mommy said that her son and his family and her daughter and her family is coming for Thanksgiving. mommy is still stress out about the problem she share with your mommy. Farewell to falling leaves
The Fall Almost Nobody Sees by David Budbill
Everybody's gone away.
They think there's nothing left to see.
The garish colors' flashy show is over.
Now those of us who stay
hunker down in sweet silence,
blessed emptiness among
red-orange shadblow
purple-red blueberry
copper-brown beech
gold tamarack, a few

sedge and fern in shades
from beige to darkening red
to brown to almost black,

So happy that your got your package I did the kitty dance when mommy said you got it early. I give the post office a A for the day. WE hope you like what you got from us. Mommy got your christmas package all ready to be send out soon tell your mommy there will be two package coming your way we will let you know when mommy send them out from the post office. Mommy is still thinking on name for the kitties and I am helping her too. so many names to chose from we will come up with something. Yes you did mommy had to help me out of my pumpkin and of course she laugh hee hee. it get scary rolling down on the floor inside the pumpkin since I could not jump out I had to back out mom just stand there laughing at me and my wahine she had to boo me too hee hee hee. Watch out on all halloween night the pumpkin just might grow legs boo they said one and all boo watch out for we follow you boo be carefull we will catch you and boo and scary place we put you boo boo. that is scary hee hee. We are happy that your mom got the card and like it too and the pictures too. Mommy said that she send out a package to your mommy today so please look for it and let us know you got it thank you. Mommy and I we put out little old head together and think of names for the kitties. Please be careful in the snow to from work and home we worried about you and your mommy.
